I have a diploma in professional studies in counselling from The University of the West of England, Bristol which I completed in 2011.
Yes! If you are willing to put the work in. This is not for the faint hearted and it can be challenging, but like physical health which requires consistency and commitment, psychological work is a hugely worthwhile and fulfilling investment.
This will depend on what you are coming to counselling to explore. My commitment to each new client is that you have my support for as long as you need and want it, and that we will taylor your therapy in a way that works best for you whether that is weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Some people stay for a few weeks, and this is enough, whereas others chose to work in an open-ended way.
I accept cash on the day or bank transfers upon booking.
Yes. I work until 8pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Yes. I am happy to work in this way and many people find this is more convenient due to busy lives and other commitments. I have a whole page about it HERE.
This is an opportunity for you to explain your situation in more detail so that I can assess whether I feel I am able to help. It is also a chance for you to find out more about the way that I work and to give us both a good sense for whether we would like to work together. It is also at this point we will discuss whether we will work face to face or online and how often.
It usually helps and is often relevant and interesting for people to do so. If it is of interest to you and you feel it might be relevant to your therapeutic journey. It is difficult to truly understand people without understanding their full story.
Yes with a few exceptions. If something is disclosed that gives me reason to think you are at serious risk of harming yourself or someone else, then I might consider discussing this with a relevant other. Where possible, I would seek to discuss this with you first.
Yes. Carefully and sparingly and often because I am being asked. Only as it pertains to subjects I feel qualified in answering confidently.
I mainly limit contact between sessions to discussing future appointments, however there are times when extra support is needed and I’m happy to offer that.
I ask that at least 24 hours’ notice is given for cancellation where possible. If less than 24 hours notice is given then the session fee will still be owed.
It is always good to have an ending session so that we are able to reflect on our work and on our journey together, and it’s also healthy and lovely to say our goodbyes.
