My Approach to Counselling & Coaching

I help couples and individuals worldwide online and in-person in Somerset navigate relationship challenges, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, trauma, and more. Alongside my practice, I also share insights on my YouTube channel, followed by tens of thousands who want practical support for their relationships.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF THERAPY THAT WORKS – SOLUTION-FOCUSED

My approach is generally more vigorous and involved than you might expect from traditional ‘safe space’ counselling.  My style is honest and lively, positive and stimulating but above all; solution focussed.  This method can be challenging for some, but if you are looking for meaningful guidance and practical solutions then you will find my approach to be refreshing and effective.

I aim to ensure that everyone I support feels truly cared for and guided in their journey to become healthier, stronger and more in tune with themselves, their loved ones and the world around them.

I would describe myself as deeply empathic and sensitive and I care greatly about the quality of the relationships I build with my clients.

My Ethos

I believe that good psychological health can be achieved only if we are willing to take increasing responsibility for the quality and outcome of our own lives. That means, we must venture into the shadowy underworld of our unconscious selves, as this is where we will discover what drives us towards failure, or towards success. In my work with clients, I strongly advocate and encourage this work.

I will help you make sense of yourself, which will enable you to make progress with the goals you set for yourself in our work, which we will review at regular intervals.

I have faith in people’s capacity to aim up towards the fulfilment of their own potential. This faith is deep and profound and something I have come to trust after working with people for more than two decades. Developing real health for ourselves, and becoming stronger and more skilful in life, is a sure-fire way of reducing anxiety and depression, and is more effective than any pill we might be prescribed, though I also respect that medication has a place for some people and often collaborate with medical professionals when appropriate.

Trust & Professional Standards

I provide therapy that is direct, practical, and solution-focused. Whether you want to strengthen your relationship or deal with personal challenges, we will work together to create lasting change.

I will support you in working towards a more truthful and clear understanding of yourself by creating a space for you to tell your own story. This will incorporate your failures and successes, your strengths and your weaknesses, your shadow and your light. From this courageous and authentic place, you will learn, and you will grow. You will develop your character, and you will find yourself more able to work out the right action to take to improve both your health and the quality of your life. You will become more capable. Over time, you will come to trust yourself more fully.

It Will Be Challenging And At Times Uncomfortable, But You Will Not Feel Alone, And We Will Work Out How To Solve The Problems That Brought You To Me In Therapy.

Your Life Will Improve.
